ABOUT RUTHIE

Originally from the United States, Israel has officially been my home since 2010 when I made Aliyah and became a citizen. I was raised in Sacramento, California, with my parents bringing me to Israel often enough for me to consider it my second home from a young age.

I attended University of Wisconsin, Madison (go Badgers!) and spent my Junior year of university studying abroad at Hebrew University in Jerusalem. Upon graduating from the University of Wisconsin, all roads pointed to building my life in Israel.

I moved to Israel soon after graduating and quickly discovered that not only do I love exploring this beautiful country, but I also love sharing those experiences with friends and family.

MY LOVE FOR FOOD IN ISRAEL

When I first visited Israel as a child, I remember being amazed by all the food options. I was a 7 year old who would eat olives, gobble down spicy food and even sneak a sip of my parents’ coffee.

As I continued to spend time in Israel, and eventually moved here, I grew to appreciate how the flavors I was enjoying were representative of the cultures that make up my chosen home. Israel is a country comprised of locals and immigrants from across the globe.

For me, the food of Israel serves as a delicious lens to the nuanced lives of the people who live here.
